Meet & Greet! With Puppies!!

I recently started volunteering for Safe Hands Rescue as a photographer at their community events. Safe Hands brings dogs up from a shelter in Kentucky and finds them forever homes in the Twin Cities area. This was my first event with them at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park. The thing about puppies is that they are very difficult to photograph! Luckily people were encouraged to pick them up and hold them which made it a LOT easier. All in all a fun event with about 3 dozen cute puppers.

Institute of Ice

I stopped by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts a couple weeks ago to see the ice sculptures they had on display in the courtyard. All were based on some of the more popular pieces inside the museum. Not sure if they had them commissioned, but they were created by a local company Minnesota Ice Sculptures. Even though I was there the day after it opened, all the pieces were already in a state of meltdown. In spite of this, it did produce some interesting textures inside the ice as one would see in a melting ice cube. It also gave me the chance to test out my newly acquired lens.

New 35mm Scans

Recently got around to bringing a few rolls of 35mm film in to West Photo to be developed and scanned. One roll of Ilford Delta 100 and two rolls of color. I honestly had no idea what would be on them, but was pleasantly surprised by the B&W stuff. Enjoy!

p.s. I fully endorse West Photo for film development and digital camera sensor cleaning.

Spring @ The Garden

Made it out to the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden, located in Golden Valley, MN, for the first time in years. Access was partially limited, but things are easing. It’s a very relaxing walk through a lush, sprawling landscape. It reminded me of being in Southern Oregon on a trip I took in 2014. Lots of biodiversity in the outskirts of the big city.

BLAHA @ First Avenue

Had my first opportunity to shoot in the Mainroom at First Ave thanks to the fine people in the Minneapolis band BLAHA. It took me a minute to figure out was going on with regard to the photographers "pit" with which I had zero previous experience, such as the limit on shooting only during the first three songs of a band's set, but I caught on pretty quickly. I also got to meet a couple other local photographers who had press passes and they were very personable. All in all a great time in one of my favorite places.
